Dr. Shumway

My name is Andy Shumway. I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona and have deep roots in Arizona going back to the 1800s. I graduated from Westwood High School where I participated in the orchestra (trumpet) and sports (basketball). Following high school, I attended Mesa Community College for a year before serving a two year mission for my church in Denmark. That was a remarkable experience in my life. Upon returning from Denmark, I eventually graduated from ASU with a BA in Chemistry. A few years later, I graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry with a DDS degree. I am married to the former Colleen Townsend. We have six children – four boys and two girls – and eight grandchildren. My family is very important to me and my life has revolved around my wife and children and now grandchildren. We enjoy traveling, going to the lake, movies, bowling, going to plays, and eating at our favorite restaurants on occasion – among many other family activities. I really enjoy being a dentist. It’s rewarding to work with our patients in such a way that they want to come back to us. I have a great staff and we all look forward to being your dental team.

Megan

I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Megan and I was born and raised in Mesa Arizona.  I received my dental hygiene degree from Utah Valley State College in Orem Utah in 2004 after attending Brigham Young University for two years.  I am married and have one daughter.  I have grown up with dentistry as Dr. Shumway is my Father.  I remember we would clean the office every Saturday when I was growing up and I would pretend to clean my little brother’s teeth.  Those pretend experiences are now real for me and I really enjoy being a dental hygienist and working with our patients.  I enjoy spending time with my little family as well as my family I grew up with.

Kim

My name is Kim and I was born and raised in good old Kingman Arizona.  I moved to the Valley in 1997 to finish my degree in dental hygiene.  I have been a dental hygienist and with Dr. Shumway since 2000.  I married my high school sweetheart and have 1 boy and 1 girl with another girl expected to join us in December 2007.  I knew I wanted to join the dental field at a young age and have been in dentistry since 1995.  I get to work with Dr. Shumway on Mondays and Tuesdays and spend the rest of the week with my children. I love seeing returning patients and visiting with them, as well as meeting new patients and becoming friends with them.  I look forward to seeing you!

Hilda

Hello! My name is Hilda. I’m originally from California and moved to Arizona 22 years ago. I’ve been in Dentistry for 25 years and 17 years with Dr. Shumway. What I enjoy most is that we are able to change our patients’ smiles in just a couple of hours. I have been blessed to be a part of a fun and caring team. You will also feel that way when you come into our office. I speak Spanish and have been married now for 3 years. Together we have 3 boys and 3 girls – just like the Brady Bunch. In the evenings, I enjoy kick boxing and Zumba. I can’t wait to meet YOU!!

Elizabeth

Hi! My name is Elizabeth and most people call me Liz. I’ve been in the dental field for 28 years. I enjoy laughing and talking with patients and helping them feel at ease during their appointments. Born and raised in California, I moved to Arizona in 1981. In my free time I enjoy running, cycling, and reading. I especially enjoy spending time with my family. I have the cutest granddaughter who is 16 months old and the handsomest grandson who is 5 months old.

Koni

My name is Koni and I have been in the dental filed for 16 years, 11 of these years with Dr. Shumway. The best part of my job is developing relationships of trust with our patients. I feel fortunate to be part of the caring team of professionals here at Shumway Dental Care. On a personal note, I have three adult daughters of whom I am very proud. My hobbies include quilting and traveling with my husband,

Hi! My name is Kelly. I am new to Shumway Dental Care in 2007 but not new to dentistry. I have 15 years experience including oral surgery. I love to see a beautiful smile emerge after treatment. I have been married for 25 years and have three adult children and one granddaughter. I enjoy going to the movies, reading, and spending time with family and good friends.

Holly

Hi! My name is Holly. I was born and raised in New York. I have worked in Dentistry for over 15 years, 8 as a hygienist. I love my job! I enjoy motivating people to improve their oral and overall health. I also take great pride in making my patients feel at ease, especially those who have dental fears. I feel privileged to work with Dr. Shumway and our wonderful staff who together are committed to delivering quality care.

My husband and I of 11 years have 2 beautiful children, ages 8 and 3. Spending as much time with them is my greatest pleasure.

Barbara

My name is Barbara and I’m a native of Arizona. I graduated from Bryman’s School and I’ve been in dentistry for over 27 years. I’ve worked in both the front and back office. I love working with people and making them smile. Laughter is always good medicine. I love family pictures. God has blessed me with a wonderful family. I’ve been married for 25 years and have a wonderful husband, 3 sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson. I’ve worked for Dr. Shumway for over 4 years now and couldn’t have picked a better group of people to work with. And, as I said, laughter is always the best medicine!
